Lake of seven colors
Mexico
9th stop of my world trip
My trip continues in the region of Yucatan Mexico. From Fairbank (U.S. Alaska) I’ll arrive in Cancun. From there I’ll travel right to Isla Holbox to avoid the masa-tourist Cancun. In Isla Holbox me and my boyfriend we’ll be staying here for a week to relax, dive, snorkel and get a nice tan. After that we’ll explore Merida, Cozumel and Bacalar where we’ll be visiting cenotes and get in touch with the old maya culture.

My plans to do:
Stop #1 - Isla Holbox
For backpackers the place to be! Everything goes a little slower on this paradise island and you come here mainly to relax. We had a wonderful relaxing time up here. The vibe is chill and everyone is kind and happy. You will find a few cool beach clubs and the extensive beaches are amazing. Around the island there are several places where you can spot flamingos and pelicans and between May and September you can even snorkel with whale sharks (they say)! And the sunsets are like no other. There is something magical about this place, especially the Bioluminescence.

Stop #2 - Merida
Merida is the capital of Mexico Yucatan. We loved this city. It has many beautiful colonial buildings and holds lots of history that goes back before Christ. This is THE place to learn more about the Mayan history and its development till the present day. And to visit Mayan ruins, like Chichen Itza and Uxmal.
